Steven Covey’s book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is one of the best-selling books of all time. In 1996, TIME Magazine dubbed Covey the “human-potential guru” when they named him one of the 25 Most Influential Americans. So when his son, Sean Covey, was asked to add insights to the book, he was hesitant:
“As a teen, strangers approached me, hugged me, started crying, and confided, ‘Your dad’s book changed my life.’ I thought, ‘Really? My dad wears velour sweatpants with a dress shirt and boat shoes. And he changed your life?’ Later I realized the gift I had been given as a child.” -Sean Covey, President of FranklinCovey Education
Sean agreed to contribute to the 30th-anniversary edition of the book under one condition: he would not touch his father’s words. In this new edition, he shares stories and behind-the-scenes accounts from his father’s life.
We speak with Sean Covey, President of FranklinCovey Education, about how the 7 Habits are still relevant three decades later.
