Jen Lewin's 'Chandelier Harp' can be seen at the 26th annual Cherry Creek Arts Festival.

While the Fourth of July weekend will hold no shortage of opportunities for fireworks, if you’re looking to assert your independence from the same old thing, here are a few options.

Despite the July Fourth holiday frequently being on one of the hottest weekends of the year, the Cherry Creek Arts Festival draws an average of 350,000 attendees. The event returns for its 26th year with more than 270 artists, along with live music, children’s activities and food. Special events will include Boulder artists Jen Lewin’s Chandelier Harp, an interactive installation of light, movement and sound, as well as pop-up performances from modern vaudeville act The Handsome Little Devils

Cherry Creek Arts Festival, July 1-4, 2016, Cherry Creek North Shopping District. Free.

There have been a lot of highs and lows with concerts at Boulder’s Folsom Field but after a 15-year hiatus, live music is returning. Dead & Company will perform at the stadium for two shows featuring three members of the Grateful Dead, along with John Mayer. As CU Athletic Director Rick George noted in a news release, the shows are an opportunity to utilize the stadiums recently renovated seating and new parking garage. If all goes well, it won’t be another 15 years before a band plays the venue again.

Dead & Company, 6:30 p.m. July 2-3, 2016, Folsom Field, Boulder. $30-$119.50.

Ever loved a movie so much that you wanted to relive it scene for scene? Back in 1982, a group of Mississippi 11-year-olds decided that was the case for Raiders of the Lost Ark. For seven years they pursued this dream, creating their own shot-for-shot adaptation of the film - except for that exploding airplane. Twenty years later, the cast reunited to shoot that scene and Raiders! The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made was born. Two of the filmmakers will attend a special screening of the documentary and the finished film adaptation, along with a Q&A session at the Lyric Cinema Cafe.

‘Raiders! The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made,’ 7 p.m.  July 5, Lyric Cinema Cafe, Fort Collins. $10.
