The University of Colorado’s smoking ban goes into effect Monday across campus.
People can now only smoke in 19 designated smoking areas.
Malinda Miller-Huey is a spokesperson for CU. She says no tickets will be issued, but students or employees who violate the ban could face consequences.

“There will not be ticketing, it’s going to be really a community enforcement. It is a violation of the student code of conduct, so if there was repeated violations they would be referred to the student conduct board," said Miller-Huey.
She says CU had been considering the ban for years before it was signed in February by Chancellor Phil DiStefano.
"We think it's our responsibility, to protect the campus community. There are long term effects from smoking and also second hand smoke,"said Miller-Huey.
The Boulder campus is the second of CU's four campuses to implement a tobacco ban, behind the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.
"This is pretty common on college campuses," said Miller-Huey.
"There are over 1,100 college campuses nation wide that are smoke free," she said.
Classes for the 2013 fall semester start Aug. 26.
