Colorado health officials say one person has been confirmed with a severe lung disease that appears to be linked to electronic cigarette products.

The Denver Post reported Thursday that the state Department of Public Health and Environment is investigating a possible second case of the illness that was reported to health officials Tuesday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says more than 150 possible cases of the illness have been reported in at least 16 other states.

Colorado health officials say the cases involve vaping cartridges containing nicotine, marijuana, CBD or synthetic marijuana.

The department has alerted health care providers to be on the watch for symptoms that include shortness of breath, chest pain, cough, low oxygen level, fatigue and potential fever.
