Get Involved: Friends of The Haven

Friends of the Hvaen / You Tube

The Haven provides a safe and empowering environment where women can recover from addictions and co-occurring disorders to help them become self-sufficient, confident members of the community. “It is the only program in the state that accepts community corrections clients that are pregnant or have an infant child,” says Bill Winn, Founding President of Friends of the Haven.

Friends of the Haven provides The Haven with resources to assist women from across Colorado who are in treatment at the facility as they work to break the cycle of substance use disorders. Doing so allows these women maintain long-term, safe, stable, and drug-free environments for themselves and their children.

“I was sentenced to prison,” says client Sheba G. “I decided to come to the Haven instead of community corrections. I don’t ever want to have to go back to prison. I wanted to change, and I was told that The Haven would be the place.”

FOH works cooperatively with the community to provide funding and volunteers for any and all activities supporting these outcomes. Activities range from basic operational needs to providing support for psychological, developmental, educational, and vocational services, to offering scholarships to women in need.
