From Neil Best's Desk: Join KUNC And NPR Presents In Fort Collins
I am so proud and pleased that NPR’s Going There series, hosted by Michel Martin, is coming to Northern Colorado to have a conversation May 24 at Colorado State University's Lory Student Center in Fort Collins. KUNC, along with NPR Presents, will be hosting an evening that revolves around one of the most important issues to our community, "The Future of Water." Now before your eyes glaze, be assured Michel Martin will ensure it's a lively evening, using personal stories and perspectives from a diverse panel to talk about this most precious resource.
While I strongly encourage you to join us May 24, we will also be carrying the conversation forward. KUNC's Luke Runyon looked at the issue of water barrels. Later this month we will explore water cooperation in Colorado, looking at the governing method of the San Luis People’s Ditch. Morning Edition host Erin O'Toole will be visiting with Michel about her visit to Colorado. We will also be looking into municipal water purchases and asking what efforts are being made to cooperate and collaborate regarding what some consider the state’s shared water interest.
Going There: The Future of Water takes place in two weeks, but KUNC’s commitment is this will be a great conversation starter. It will also be an important opportunity to consider how we can expand and improve our coverage of this vital topic moving forward.
Looking forward to seeing you May 24 for Going There.
