Halcyon Hospice and Palliative Care has been providing calming and peaceful care for hospice patients and their families along the Front Range since 2008.

“Halcyon is committed to the standard of excellence in providing sensitive patient centered care to patients and their families,” said director of business development, Chad Hartmann.

When inside the Halcyon building in Mead, you can only feel the warmth and kindness of the team and the passion they radiate for providing the best end-of-life care that they possibly can. Available 24 hours a day and seven days a week, their hospice team works tirelessly to provide the best support and care for patients and families regardless of their financial situation

“Sometimes our culture makes death a sad thing, but really it's part of life and we should be celebrating and embracing it,” said Hartmann.

Through one of the hardest times of life, volunteers are needed not only for patients but to provide comfort and relief for families.

“I've had one wonderful woman that I've gotten to spend some time with,” said volunteer Jack Wiener “And I feel like I brought some joy into her life and she brought a lot of joy into my life. She shared so much of her life with me and that's really a nice thing to share with another person.”

Halcyon is named after a bird in Greek myth resembling a kingfisher. Halcyon says it represents the peace and calm that Halcyon Hospice and Palliative care strives to bring to people in times of difficult transitions.

“If you want to share your heart and do something that is meaningful, this is a good place to do that,” said Wiener.
