From Neil Best's Desk
Through your membership support, KUNC has developed a vibrant news staff, dedicated to keeping us informed of critical issues in our communities.
I will hasten to add your membership support is also important to the reporting of stories from across the country. Current and alumni reporters of KUNC are very much impacting the reporting being heard both on KUNC and nationally.
This past week KUNC investigative reporter Michal de Yoanna was featured on Reveal. In his reporting, Michael traveled to the Arctic Circle to learn how the United States network of military radars are dealing with issues of ice melt, erosion, and storm surge.
KUNC alumnus Kirk Siegler continues to report on myriad issues as an NPR national reporter, based in Culver City, CA. Over the past year, Kirk has made countless visits to the site of the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA. First reporting on the efforts to fight the deadliest wildfire in California’s history and for the past year to report on the aftermath of destruction and recovery.
Jackie Fortier, formerly a general assignment report and All Things Considered host, is now the senior health care reporter for Stateimpact Oklahoma. You certainly have heard numerous reports from Jackie, on both Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Most recently reporting on the Opioid trial taking place in Oklahoma.
In the last few months my colleagues Leigh Patterson, Matt Bloom, Scott Franz, and Stephanie Daniel have all contributed to the national conversation heard on 1A.
Clearly, our tradition of reporting that contributes to the conversation here and nationally continues and is growing. Thanks for making this reporting available here on KUNC and far beyond.
