From Neil Best's Desk
Governor Jared Polis issued an order on March 22nd, emphasizing the need for non-essential staff to work from home. KUNC had proactively moved to this model earlier in the month, with the vast majority of our staff telecommuting. We are also in compliance with the updated order from this past week regarding shelter in place. As first responders, we take that responsibility seriously, at the same time we are working also to be mindful of the intent of the Wednesday directive. Only essential staff are working from our studios at this point, providing the live and local information that is so essential at this time. I am pleased to report we are well and continuing to work to keep the KUNC audience informed.
Information to the public is one of the first lines of response, therefore KUNC is among what are considered essential industries. KUNC is determined to provide up to date information both as you listen to us on-air or when you visit on your smart speaker, our apps, or mobile device on kunc.org. We’re temporarily changing our program schedule to provide additional local and national COVID-19 information, but the rest of our regularly scheduled programming will remain consistent, but as always, it will be subject to change based on breaking news. In addition, we ask that you are patient with us as we respond to your questions or requests through this disruption to our normal routines.
And since the non-stop news can be overwhelming at times, I’d like to remind you that The Colorado Sound offers a comforting musical diversion to help us all through these difficult times.
Allow me this opportunity to express how grateful we are at KUNC and The Colorado Sound for your support. KUNC and The Colorado Sound can confidently operate in such crucial and chaotic times because of the community commitment that has made the fiscal health of our stations strong. This allows us to do what we do best, focus on what's important to you, and to fulfill our commitment to the community. On behalf of the entire staff, we thank you.
