"The Libyan government released four detained New York Times journalists Monday, six days after they were captured while covering the conflict between government and rebel forces in the eastern city of Ajdabiya," the newspaper just reported on its website. "They were released into the custody of Turkish diplomats who were accompanying them out of Libya."
The four are: Anthony Shadid, the Times' Beirut bureau chief; two photographers, Tyler Hicks and Lynsey Addario; and a reporter/videographer Stephen Farrell.
Update at 11:25 a.m. ET. Times editor Bill Keller has:
"Huge relief. NYT Four arrive Tunisia. They will have some story to tell."
