One of the attention-getting stories of the day, from this morning's New York Times:
"The Obama administration has intensified the American covert war in Yemen, exploiting a growing power vacuum in the country to strike at militant suspects with armed drones and fighter jets, according to American officials."
As the Times adds, al-Qaida in Yemen "is believed by the C.I.A. to pose the greatest immediate threat to the United States."
Meanwhile, state media in Yemen are reportedly saying that President Ali Abdullah Saleh is out of intensive care at the Saudi hospital where he's being treated for wounds suffered last Friday when the presidential palace was attacked.
And Reuters is saying it has been told by "U.S. and Arab officials" that it was a bomb that injured Saleh, "rather than rockets as first thought."
