Steven Summer was appointed President and CEO of the Healthcare Institute in January 2020 following his retirement from the Colorado Hospital Association (CHA). He served as President and CEO of CHA from 2006 through 2019. Prior to joining CHA, Steven spent 13 years with the West Virginia Hospital Association as President and CEO. From 1976 to 1993, he held senior leadership positions with the Maryland Hospital Association. Steven is the immediate past-chair of the Board of Directors of Kavod Senior Life—a senior living community in Cherry Creek. In November 2021, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the NPR Foundation. He is an active volunteer in the community and serves on two Arapahoe County Council appointed panels. He and his wife Loraine, who has a Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology, live in Englewood. They have two sons both of whom live in Denver: Ari (a software engineer) and Jason (a data scientist).
