This special section gathers all of the stories of the KUNC Newsroom & the NPR Elections Unit cover the Colorado Caucuses. The caucuses were held on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012.

Colorado GOP Launches New Caucus Website

With the Iowa presidential caucuses now over, Colorado Republicans are looking ahead to the process here. The party is launching a new website to help voters find their caucus locations – a process that may prove more challenging this year than in the past.

Because of reapportionment and redistricting that happens every ten years, not all counties have finalized their precinct lines. That’s expected to be done Jan. 9th – less than a month before Colorado’s caucuses.

Party chairman Ryan Call says it’s important to have a central resource to educate Colorado voters on the state’s caucus plans.

“Especially given the fact that Colorado’s caucuses are coming early - on Feb. 7th  - and we’re working under some tight timelines, the need to use and utilize new technology more effectively became very important,” adds Call.

Participants must be registered Republicans as of Dec. 7th, 2011; and precinct residents as of Jan. 9th.  Pre-registration is not required, but Call says it will help speed up the check-in process.

As the host of KUNC’s new program and podcast In the NoCo, I work closely with our producers and reporters to bring context and diverse perspectives to the important issues of the day. Northern Colorado is such a diverse and growing region, brimming with history, culture, music, education, civic engagement, and amazing outdoor recreation. I love finding the stories and voices that reflect what makes NoCo such an extraordinary place to live.
