Barbara Brohl, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Revenue, explains a new "Wait Less" kiosk to Governor Hickenlooper at the Lakewood DMV.

Long lines at Department of Motor Vehicle Offices may soon be a thing of the past. Governor Hickenlooper helped unveil a new computerized check-in system designed to cut wait times by as much as 30 minutes.

The “Wait Less” project allows people to schedule their appointments on-line– and conduct much of their business at computerized kiosks, much like you see at an airport. Barbara Brohl is Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Revenue.

“What industry brings in a lot of people and moves them through lines fast? Airports. How do they do it? They have the different queuing  lines. So as we started to look at other industries we started to pick up things we liked from other industries that we thought would really be beneficial here.”

Brohl says the majority of the funding for the Wait Less program has come from federal grants. The program is up and running in Lakewood. Eight other offices- including Denver, Greeley, and Ft. Collins will be on-line by the end of this year.
