While many communities have canceled their Fourth of July celebrations due to the coronavirus pandemic this year, here are some places along the Front Range and in Northern Colorado where you can still watch fireworks light up the night sky — from a safe social distance, of course.
Berthoud
The town of Berthoud will hold their celebration on Friday, July 3. Officials say they will launch fireworks from a secured staging area in Waggener Farm Park high into the sky to allow viewing from farther away. Residents are encouraged to watch from outside their homes or inside their vehicles, but are asked to be mindful of parking in places that do not obstruct others. The show will begin at dusk, or approximately 9:15 p.m.
Brighton
The city of Brighton will host their "Fourth of July Fireworks: 2020 Home Edition" at dusk on July 4. Look at the sky towards East Brighton, or watch it broadcast on KBRI channel 8 (Comcast 8 and 881) or livestreamed on Facebook. The city's traditional live concert at Carmichael Park has been canceled this year.
Greeley
The Greeley Stampede says their fireworks show this year will be visible up to 10 miles from Island Grove Park. There will be no activities at the park, and people who visit are asked to practice social distancing between household groups. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. on July 4. Tune in to BIG 97.9 on the radio for a musical soundtrack synced to the fireworks. 9News will also livestream the show on their Facebook page, YouTube channel and app.
Loveland
The Ranch Events Complex in Loveland will host a free drive-in Fourth of July celebration and fireworks show with parking spaces for up to 10,000 vehicles. Gates will open at 7:30 p.m. on July 4 and patriotic music starts at 8:30 p.m. on KISS 96.1. The fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring snacks, lawn chairs and blankets, and to wear a mask if sitting outside their car. There will be no food vendors on site, but portable restrooms will be provided. A tip sheet and parking map are available on the city of Loveland's website.
Timnath
The town of Timnath has canceled their regular festivities, but will launch fireworks starting at 9:30 p.m. (or 10:30 p.m. if there is a weather delay) on July 4. Residents are asked not to gather at the reservoir, but to stay at home or walk to an open space near home. Look towards the water tower to see the show. Recipes, family activities and a playlist for at-home celebrations are available on the town's website.
Windsor
The town of Windsor will launch fireworks at approximately 9:10 p.m. on July 4 from a location between the Poudre River Trail, New Liberty Road, 7th Street and Colorado Boulevard. Officials say this is considered to be the highest point in town, to make the show visible from many residents' yards. People are asked to practice social distancing when viewing from public green spaces, sidewalks and bike paths. More regulations can be found on the town's website.
