Letters From London: August 7th

Stephen Kasica via Instagram

Freshly graduated and shipped off to London; Stephen Kasica is on assignment in London for the Olympics. He sent us this missive:

Dear Colorado,

Today I took Shalaya Kipp out of the Olympic Village and went sightseeing through London. Despite being in Europe almost a month before the games, many Olympic athletes don't roam past the cloistered Olympic Village until after competition. Shalaya had been in London for over a week and had not seen Big Ben from an airplane window.

Word on the street is that most Londoners fled the city the night of opening ceremonies, just as the world arrived, and makes the more than 7 million person metropolis slightly less crowded than usual.

So downtown London is downright leisurely compared to the Olympic Park. While I couldn't walk five minutes without flashing my stadium ticket or passport, I accidentally showed a city bus driver a dirty napkin instead of my bus pass--and he didn't care in the least bit.

Relaxing in The City,

Stephen Kasica
