Colorado 2020 Election

The nine members of Colorado's electoral college, like their counterparts across the country, met Monday at the state Capitol to cast their votes in the 2020 presidential election.

People all over the country are gathering in reaction to the news that Joe Biden is now the president-elect. In Denver, Biden supporters got together in Cheeseman Park to celebrate.

Following the narrow passage of Proposition 114, Colorado Parks and Wildlife will now spend the next three years coming up with a plan for how to reintroduce the animals by 2023.

Colorado lawmakers made the decision to join the national popular vote movement last year, but the new law stirred up so much controversy, more than 600,000 residents signed a petition to get the question on November’s ballot.

Today in a special episode of Colorado Edition: Voting is now over in the 2020 election, and although we’re waiting on official results in several states for the presidential race, most results in Colorado came in quickly on election night – including the outcome of the U.S. Senate race.

Denver voters passed a series of local measures on election night, most notably affecting climate change and homelessness in the city.

Election judges worked well into the night to get ballots to processing facilities, verify signatures and count them. Ballots were still being counted in many counties this morning and some may go into the afternoon.

Boebert campaigned heavily on criticizing socialism and the policies Gov. Jared Polis has put in place to protect residents from COVID-19.

Colorado workers who need paid time off to care for a newborn or a sick relative are one step closer to having access to such a benefit after voters passed Proposition 118.
