We should know next week the make-up of the bipartisan “super committee” of lawmakers who will be tasked with cutting another $1.2 to $1.5 trillion from the nation’s deficit. Progress in Washington on the debt limit discussion is achingly slow, but Colorado’s Senators agree on the solution.

Colorado Senator Michael Bennet says he favors a long-term solution on trimming the federal deficit rather than a short-term compromise on raising the debt-ceiling, a move that mirrors calls by President Obama ahead of a planned White House meeting Thursday.

Senators in Washington have scrapped their plans to spend next week in their home states. Instead they will remain on Capitol Hill for 11th hour negotiations to deal with the deficit.
