RENEE MONTAGNE, host:

Good morning. I'm Renee Montagne.

The sound of a telephone ringing will now coax some 250 Iowa students out of bed each school day. That's how many students officials at Marshall Town High School say are chronically late. The school will now graciously provide wake up calls to those who've been tardy five or more times in the past couple of months. The call will come between 6:30 and 6:45 AM, about two hours before first period.

It's MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
