MONTAGNE: Google has announced that computer hackers in China broke into personal email accounts of hundreds of people - including top U.S. officials and Chinese activists. The accusation sparked an angry response from Beijing which calls the claim unacceptable.

Google says the attacks came from offices in Eastern China belonging to the Chinese army and a technical college that's been linked to a previous attack on the company. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
