LINDA WERTHEIMER, host:

Good morning. I'm Linda Wertheimer.

Here's another hooligan sport. The shin-kicking world championships took place this past weekend in Gloucestershire, England. This involves two people kicking each other's shins until one falls over. Competitors stuff trouser legs with straw, ambulances stand by. It's the same instinct that used to take people to hanging or guillotining, said competition judge James Wiseman.

It's MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
