STEVE INSKEEP, host:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.

People at a lecture in Maine must've thought this was a setup. Dr. William Phillips was giving a talk on heart disease at the Central Maine Medical Center and suddenly a man in the audience complained of chest pain. He collapsed from a heart attack. He wasn't breathing. But the man's timing was perfect. He was surrounded by cardiac nurses who grabbed a defibrillator and saved his life. Dr. Phillips oversaw the rescue and resumed his lecture.
