STEVE INSKEEP, host:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.

The Federal Aviation Administration cracked down on what it called a wayward pilot. The man landed his plane in South Texas on a runway that was supposed to be closed. So the FAA ordered him to take remedial pilots lessons. Unfortunately for the FAA, the pilot was Oklahoma Republican Senator James Inhofe. He's a veteran pilot and he has introduced a bill now to strengthen the position of pilots who contest FAA enforcement of safety rules.
