A Cooper's Hawk has been trapped in the Main Reading Room of the Library of Congress here in Washington, D.C., since last Wednesday.
Tori Hill, the acting Chief of the Humanities and Social Sciences at the Library of Congress, talked with Melissa Block on All Things Considered about the unexpected visitor.
Hill says the bird is a juvenile female who swoops around from time to time in the reading room, then returns to her perch.
It's not clear how the hawk got into the Library of Congress. It has, however, drawn curious employees and visitors to the august reading room.
So far, attempts to lure the bird back outside have failed.
