In America it's Joe Six-pack. In France, the female version of regular guy is Madame Dugenou, literally of the knee. And when a presidential candidate said he hoped to convince Madame Dugenou, a French woman listed by that name in the phonebook was suddenly bombarded with calls. Reporters wanted to know her political opinions. She had none. And apparently there is no real Madame Dugenou. The listing turned out to be a mistake.
