Officials say a Colorado woman has been sentenced to 20 hours of community service for falsely reporting a bear attack.
The alleged Sept. 19 attack led to a search of Golden Gate Canyon State Park and its popular Coyote Trail — leading Colorado Parks and Wildlife to say there was no physical evidence indicating there was any wildlife activity in the area.
Julie Bosworth, the woman who reported the attack, received a citation for false reporting on Oct. 9 after wildlife officials said lab results determined she did not have bear DNA on her clothing, and instead human and dog hairs.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife says Bosworth pleaded guilty to a class three misdemeanor on Tuesday.
