Avoiding Extinction
New research shows that at least 28 bird and mammal species have avoided global extinction due to conservation efforts since 1993. Thatstudy was co-authored by Dr. Sarah King, a research scientist at Colorado State University, who joined us to talk about the research and why it’s significant.
A Mystery On The South Platte River
Our next conversation has to do with dead fish, fish detectives and fishermen. Kevin Simpson recently reported on a bit of a mystery surrounding dead fish in the South Platte River, and he joined us to discuss his reporting, which you can read here.
Nude Models In The Zoom Boom
Back in February, KUNC arts reporter Stacy Nick began working on a story on nude fine art models. Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit. She’s since returned to the story to see how an industry that thrives on sketching from live models is handling going virtual.
In Pursuit Of Citizenship
Thursday is citizenship day, which marks the anniversary of the ratification of the U.S. Constitution and recognizes those who have become U.S. citizens, either by coming of age or by naturalization. A new book by University of Colorado Boulder law professor Ming Hsu Chen explores that topic. The book, Pursuing Citizenship in the Enforcement Era, was released last month. Professor Chen joined us to discuss her book.
