Colorado Edition: Learning To Listen

Today on Colorado Edition: we’ll learn about telehealth during the pandemic. Plus, we’ll talk with a local teacher, and get some tips for how to listen better.

Telehealth And The Pandemic

Since the start of the pandemic, we’ve seen a rise in telehealth services for this influx of mental health issues. And though largely unprecedented, telehealth is expected to continue growing.

Madelyn Beck takes us to Idaho to explore some mixed reviews when it comes to getting mental health treatment through a screen.

And KUNC’s Leigh Paterson joined us to look at what the growth of telehealth looks like here in Colorado.

Teaching The Election

Since the start of the pandemic, we've been talking with teachers around the state to hear how things are going as they, and their students, adapt to the new reality of socially distanced classrooms, online learning, or a mix of both.

Today, during election week, we checked in with Chris Tholl. He is a teacher at Fort Collins High School, in the social studies department.

Learning To Listen

With all the furor and frenzy we’re living through these days, it can be helpful to remember the importance of listening to each other. Whether that’s in person, over a video conference call, or on social media.

Our next guest is an expert in listening and has written a whole book on it. Dr. Elizabeth Parks is an assistant professor at Colorado State University, where she studies and teaches listening and dialogue. She’s also the dialogue and diversity specialist with the Center For Public Deliberation at CSU.
