Papa Juke On The Nine O'Clock Blues

Jon Howe

Join me tonight for the Nine O’clock Blues for a set of music from Papa Juke who describe their music as “…blues with a difference, blues with a heritage, blues with an attitude.”

I first heard them at The Greeley Blues Jam and greatly enjoyed their trimmed down sound with guitar, bass, harmonica and drums and no unnecessary frills. On tonight’s show we’ll hear bass player and vocalist Christine Webb introduce the band and tells us a little about several songs from their new album, “Out of the Blues”.

Also on tonight’s show there will be some seriously New Orleans’ music from Bob French’s Original Tuxedo Jazz Band, trans-cultural blues from Taj Mahal and the Culture Musical Club of Zanzibar, and the heart and soul of Chicago with Pinetop Perkins and Willie “Big Eyes” Smith.
