Fire And Water: No Name, Colorado
Major wildfires have burned through the Western U.S. this year. Fires have immediate effects on air quality and nearby homes. But now, people are coming to grips with the lingering danger of wildfires, long after the flames are gone. Today, we continue our look at where water and fire intersect in the West. As Aspen Public Radio’s Alex Hager reports, people who live near burn scars can find themselves in a brand new flood zone.
More Public Health Measures On The Table In Larimer County
Last week, Larimer County Public Health Officials said if the number of COVID-19 cases in the county continue to rise, they may put in place tighter restrictions on gatherings and businesses. Tom Gonzales, Larimer County’s public health director, joined us to discuss where the county is at in terms of COVID-19. In these final two weeks leading up to the election, we’re going to take one more look at campaign finance in some of Colorado’s most-watched races. Sandra Fish reported on these numbers for the Colorado Sun, and joined us to discuss what she’s found. You can read her reporting here.
Will Colorado Continue To See High Youth Voter Turnout?
More young adults are expected to vote in the upcoming election. In 2018, Colorado ranked among the top three in youth voting with a rate considerably higher than the national average. While the state can boast a high turnout for Generation Z and Millennial voters, one university is leading the charge. KUNC’s Stephanie Daniel has more.
