Peter Moren, Bjorn Yttling and John Eriksson, otherwise known as Peter Bjorn and John, whistled their way to international acclaim in 2006 with "Young Folks," the fiendishly catch single from their breakout third album, Writer's Block. Praised for its understated charm and impeccable production, the album was widely hailed by critics as one of the best pop records of the year.
The trio, who have been playing music together since high school, are accustomed to traveling at their own pace, and the years that followed took them in some unexpected directions. In 2008, they released the vinyl-only instrumental album Seaside Rock, and further explored their experimental side on 2009's Living Thing. They also kept busy with solo projects, production work, and hip-hop collaborations with Drake and Kanye West.
This March they released their sixth album, Gimme Some. Packed with pleasing, artfully arranged pop, the album is a welcome return to form for the band.
On today's episode of World Café, PB&J stop by the studio to perform four cuts from Gimme Some.
