It's thumbs up, not hands raised, at a school in the U.K. It's banned the tradition of waving your arm in the air when you know the answer to a question, because that practice can be so distracting. Teachers say the new method has a calming effect and makes it easier not to overlook students who don't want to draw attention to themselves.
