Watching TV shows and movies has become an even bigger pastime for those of us who are able to isolate safely at home.

But while we’re busy catching up on last year’s best films (or even a series that ended years ago), Hollywood is on hold. Studios and filmmakers have halted production. Movies that were supposed to premiere during this time have been pushed back or released online.

And as students turn to online resources to guide their education, director Ava DuVernay is launching an initiative to provide learning guides for select films and television.

Through her arts collective, ARRAY, she’s working to provide educators with additional materials based on her acclaimed series,  When They See Us.

We talk with Ava DuVernay about that and about how the film industry is adjusting during the coronavirus pandemic.
