The mayoral race in New York City has gotten national attention, but now a race in upstate New York is making waves.

Nurse and community activist India Walton just won the Democratic primary — putting her on track to become the first socialist mayor to run a large American city since 1960.

What could her win mean for the future of local politics around the country?
