Get Involved: Neighbor To Neighbor

Neighbor to Neighbor’s mission is to open doors and advance lives from homelessness through home ownership. They’re the primary housing resource for Larimer County residents providing sustainable housing, supportive services, and education.  Neighbor to Neighbor operates three key service programs: Renter, affordable housing, and home ownership.

Financial and volunteer support from the community enables Neighbor to Neighbor to prevent homelessness in over 200 families in Larimer County each year, prevent foreclosure for 90% of their cases, educate 700 individuals working toward home ownership, maintain affordable apartments for over 300 adults and children, and maintain supportive programs for youth and residents.

Neighbor to Neighbor grew out of a grassroots movement in 1970. In a northeast Fort Collins neighborhood a large family was about to lose their home. Their neighbors joined together and successfully raised enough money to keep the family from becoming homeless. This spirit of giving and compassion led to the founding of Neighbor to Neighbor. Since then, their programs have expanded to meet the growing need for affordable housing and self-sufficiency programs in Larimer County. They include their HUD-Certified Renter and Home Ownership programs and an Affordable Housing program. Today, Neighbor to Neighbor serves over 5,000 individuals each year.

Each year, volunteers provide over 5,000 hours of support to Neighbor to Neighbor.  The value of that time is over $100,000 annually. Volunteer opportunities are available for youth, adults, groups, interns, and court-referred volunteers. There are many volunteer opportunities including holding rent parties to working in the office to helping with landscape and maintenance projects.
