Big-time college football had a record number of African-American head coaches this season -- 13 out of 120 Division 1-A schools. Three years ago, there were just six. But of those 13 who coached this year, only one had a winning record. The reason may be that the jobs available to African-American candidates are with programs that haven't had winning traditions.
