Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is being treated at a hospital in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, The Associated Press and Reuters report.
Neither wire service has information about why the 82-year-old Mubarak was hospitalized, although the AP notes that "near the end of his rule, he had been suffering from a number of health problems and had undergone gallbladder surgery."
Al-Jazeera correspondent Zeina Khodr adds that "the former president has been complaining that he's been unwell for some time now."
Just yesterday, there was word from Egypt that Mubarak and his sons have been summoned to talk with investigators who are embarking on probe into allegations of corruption during his nearly 30 years in power.
Update at 2:40 p.m. ET. Heart Problems?
The AP now reports Mubarak "was abruptly hospitalized Tuesday at a Red Sea resort for heart problems during an investigation into allegations of corruption and the violence against protesters, reported state TV."
And the AP says that "dozens of demonstrators picketed the hospital" after his arrival there.
