State Supreme Court Will Hear Republican’s Appeal on Redistricting

Creative Commons

The Colorado Supreme Court will take up a Republican challenge to new congressional maps in early December. The state must draw new maps every ten years. A Denver District Court picked a Democratic map after the legislature failed to agree on one. Republicans argue that it splits key communities of interest. KUNC’s State Capitol Reporter Bente Birkeland talks with other state house reporters about the process and ramifications.

Bente Birkeland has been reporting on state legislative issues for KUNC and Rocky Mountain Community Radio since 2006. Originally, from Minnesota, Bente likes to hike and ski in her spare time. She keeps track of state politics throughout the year but is especially busy during the annual legislative session from January through early May.
