Colorado holds its Republican caucuses on Tuesday. Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, and Ron Paul have all focused their attention here recently. The state will also be a key battleground in the general election contest.Mitt Romney is planning a pair of rallies Monday evening and Tuesday morning in the Denver suburbs and Loveland respectively.  KUNC’s Kirk Siegler covered the former Massachusetts governor's brief stop in Colorado Springs this past weekend and filed this preview with NPR’s Weekend Edition Sunday.

Meanwhile, Newt Gingrich will make his first and only Colorado appearances leading up to Tuesday's caucus at a pair of stops Monday in Golden.  He has a rally scheduled at the West Denver Marriott at 11:30, followed by a speech at an event billed as a Colorado energy summit, at the Colorado School of Mines.

Kirk Siegler reports for NPR, based out of NPR West in California.
