1 Killed In Small Plane Crash In Northern Colorado

Authorities say one person was killed in a small plane crash in northern Colorado.

Carie Dann with the Loveland Fire Rescue Authority says smoke was reported in the plane's cabin Wednesday afternoon, and emergency responders found the crashed aircraft about five minutes later near the Northern Colorado Regional Airport.

The Loveland Reporter-Herald reportsthe person who died was the only one onboard.

Dann says the plane spilled fuel and sparked a fire when it crashed in a dry pond in Loveland. Federal investigators were at the scene Wednesday afternoon.

Crash witness Michael Stahl says he saw what looked like "a fireball dropping straight down" as he was driving north on nearby Interstate 25. The victim's name has not been released.
