Spring Rain Increases Flood Danger in Four Mile Canyon Burn Area

Boulder County officials are in “wait and see” mode as a spring storm brings rain and snow to the area burned by last September’s Four Mile Canyon wildfire. The moisture is welcome in many parts of the Front Range but it could trigger mudslides and other problems in the burn area.

Galleon Group Founder Rajaratnam Guilty Of Fraud

In a big win for federal prosecutors, a jury in Manhattan on Wednesday convicted hedge fund titan Raj Rajaratnam on 14 counts of conspiracy and fraud. Prosecutors say the financier, founder of the Galleon Group, made tens of millions of dollars in illegal stock trades using inside information gleaned from networks of corporate insiders.

Legislature Fails on Redistricting, Courts Will Likely Decide

The state legislature failed to reach a compromise to draw new congressional districts, and depending on who you ask, you get a vastly different picture of how and when things broke down. The issue will now likely go to the courts for a judge to decide new maps.

Creative Prom Invite Gets Student Suspended

In Shelton, Conn., high school senior James Tate wanted to ask someone to prom in a special way. In the middle of the night, he and friends brought a ladder to the school and taped this message in tall letters to the side of the building: "Sonali Rodrigues, Will you go to prom with me?" She said yes, but the school suspended Tate for trespassing.
