1918 Flu

Daniel speaks with Dr. Jeffrey Taubenberger, of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, about a breakthrough into the cause of deadly flu outbreaks. Researchers at the institute have recently recovered genetic material from the deadly 1918 flu pandemic, which killed more than 20 million people worldwide. Dr. Taubenberger says that the genetic material, which was taken from a victim's corpse in Alaska, may provide clues that will prevent a pandemic in the future.
