Bellagio Discontinuing $25,000 Chip After Heist

RENEE MONTAGNE, host:

Good morning. I'm Renee Montagne.

It will be harder to flash a certain kind of cash in Las Vegas in the New Year. The Bellagio casino says that as of April it will discontinue its $25,000 chip. That's because a gunman robbed the casino of $1.5 million worth of chips and he's still at large. By closing the window on those valuable chips, the casino hopes to make it impossible for the thief to cash them in.
