Egypt's National Anthem Rings Out In Tahrir Square

During the past 18 days of protest, demonstrators often broke into song.

Unidentified People: (Singing in foreign language).

BLOCK: And most often, that song was Egypt's national anthem.

Unidentified People: (Singing in foreign language).

ROBERT SIEGEL, host

They are singing (foreign language spoken), or my homeland, my homeland, my homeland.

Unidentified People: (Singing in foreign language).

BLOCK: Here is the final verse of the anthem: Egypt, noble are thy children, loyal and guardians of thy soil. In war and peace, we give our lives for thy sake.
