Terry Adams and the New NBRQ will perform at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia at noon ET.

The members of the long-running bar band NRBQ are what you might call musicians' musicians. Terry Adams and the rest of the group love a variety of genres — blues, country, jazz, pop and rock — and it comes through in their playing. Their first album, released back in 1969, featured covers of Eddie Cochran and Sun Ra, as well as a song co-written by jazz artist Carla Bley.

NRBQ filled bars, taverns and concert halls for more than 20 years, mixing its omnivorous approach with self-deprecating humor and ample winks at the audience. The band went on hiatus in 2004 when Adams developed throat cancer. Since Adams' return to health, the band has undergone some transitions, hence the name on today's marquee: Terry Adams and the New NRBQ.
