As the official count of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide rises to about 90,000, U.S. officials have been struggling to slow its spread stateside.

The U.S. is expanding travel restrictions from Iran and heightening a travel advisory for some areas of South Korea and Italy, Vice President Mike Pence said Saturday. Officials have instituted new screening methods for those reentering the country from high-risk areas.

American health officials say that coronavirus claimed its first two victims inside the country’s borders over the weekend. Both deceased lived in Washington State. The official U.S. death count has risen to six.

They’re also advising citizens to be as hygienic as possible and to prepare for the possibility of infection by purchasing food and supplies.

How much preparation is necessary? What can we expect?
