Denver Gypsy-punk band DeVotchKa will perform it's re-imagining of 'Sweeney Todd' with the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Theatre Company.

Mom always told you to try everything on your plate at least once, right? Well, maybe she should have been more specific…

The Broadway classic Sweeney Todd is getting an update care of Denver Gypsy-punk band DeVotchKa. They teamed up with the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Theatre Company to spice up the show about "the demon barber of Fleet Street." The five-week run should be a bloody-good time for those 12 and older — maybe leave the littler ones at home as there will be some gory scenes and adult themes.

'Sweeney Todd,' April 8-May 15, 2016, The Stage Theatre. $35-$40

When you hear the Burroughs describe their sound as "sweaty Greeley soul" you may be a little confused as to what that exactly means. When you see them live, it will all make sense. This 9-piece band is amazing and frontman Johnny Burroughs brings back that James Brown-style of showmanship.

The Burroughs, 9 p.m. April 9, 2016, Moxi Theater, Greeley. $12-$15. 8 p.m. April 15, Aggie Theatre, Fort Collins. $12-$15.

Ever had a hankering to eat a cricket? How about a grasshopper? Fort Collins' Growing Project is hosting an Eating Bugs 101 class featuring two CSU agriculture and pest management researchers leading the event. In addition to cooking up some insects for the class to sample, they’ll be looking at the nutritional and environmental benefits of adding bugs to the menu.

Eating Bugs 101, 6-7:30 p.m. April 13, 2016. Hope Farms. $12.
