Colorado saw a one-tenth of a percentage point drop in the state’s unemployment rate for the month of October.
Better tracking of those with jobs is largely behind the change. “At the same time, we saw an 86-hundred increase in payroll jobs, non-farm payroll jobs, which is a strong over the month change,” says state Labor Department Chief Economist Alexandra Hall.
At 7.9 percent Colorado’s unemployment rate now matches the national average. The largest job gains were in professional and business services, as well as health and education.
“I wouldn’t say we reach the point yet where there’s strong job growth trends – but they’re solid and growing at a moderate pace,” says Hall.
Overall the state is on track to add between 35 to 40 thousand jobs for the year.
