Sen. Bennet, Rep. Neguse Plan Measure To Protect State Land

U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet and U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse are planning to introduce a measure that looks to protect about 625 square miles (1,620 square kilometers) of Colorado land.

The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports the Colorado Democrats on Monday plan to introduce the Colorado Outdoor Recreation and Economy Act that tries to protect the land either through new wilderness designations or protecting land from oil and gas development.

The bill also includes three other measures Bennet has introduced in years past. They include the preserving of more land in the White River National Forest, expanding wilderness areas in the San Juan and Uncompahgre national forests and formally establishing the boundaries of the Curecanti National Recreation Area near Blue Mesa Reservoir.
