Happy Birthday Greeley Blues Jam, You’re 10!

courtesy of Greeley Blues Jam
Take a bow Greeley Blues Jam, you've been delivering the Blues to Northern Colorado for a decade.

For the last decade The Greeley Blues Jam has brought many of the very best Blues artists in the U.S. and around the World to Northern Colorado and the 2014 event will certainly live up to the reputation the Jam has earned over those years.

Since the beginning The Greeley Blues Jam has grown each year with traditions that repeat each time plus annual progress towards a bigger and better event. As always, the festivities will kick off on the 9th Street Plaza downtown on Friday. The Ori Naftaly Band will play on June 13, followed by 15 venues throughout the downtown featuring live Blues artists.

On Saturday June 14, the schedule will include a variety of styles of Blues from bands from as far afield as Poland and Israel and, of course, many of America’s best. Here’s the order of appearance:

Tab Benoit: Louisiana Roots Blues exponent and dedicated conservation advocate.

Marcia Ball: The link between barrelhouse, boogie and New Orleans and perennial festival favorite.

Trampled Under Foot: A family band anchored by the powerful vocals of Danielle Schneblen, definitely a young lady to watch.

The California Honeydrops: Veterans of San Francisco’s BART stations, street musician roots.

Heritage Blues Orchestra: A New York group who came together to preserve multiple styles of Blues while moving the genre forward. They succeed.

Lurrie Bell: Son of original Chicago Blues legend Carey Bell so he grew up among the greats of the Blues and it rubbed off.

Reverend Raven and the Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys: A Milwaukee based straight shooting Blues band. "The Reverend's ability to keep a crowd going all night long is a matter of haunted local legend." - Brian Barney, Shepherd Express

Ori Naftaly Band: Winners of the Israeli Blues Challenge Competition and first ever Israeli semi-finalists in the International Blues Competition in Memphis, Tennessee.

It will surely be a great event and will support a good cause, people in Weld County who suffered damage from the September 2013 floods. Hope to see you there.
